KUCHING: Sarawak has imposed entry restrictions on China and South Korea nationals and people travelling from the two countries in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19 outbreak.
The State Disaster Management Committee, in a statement, explained that certain immigration policies are being enforced to ensure that state remained free of the sickness.
It added the immigration policies for visitors, Malaysians (non-residents of Sarawak) and Sarawakians who had been to China in the past 14 days remained the same.
“All foreigners (irrespective of nationalities) who have been to South Korea in the past 14 days will be refused entry into the state.
“All Malaysians (non-residents of Sarawak) who have been to South Korea and China (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) in the last 14 days are strongly advised not to visit Sarawak until their 14 days’ home quarantine have been fully completed and they are not found to have been infected with the Covid-19,” the statement said.
The statement added that in view of the changing Covid-19 situation, apart from South Korea, SDMC would continue to monitor situation in other countries like Singapore, Japan, Iran, Italy, etc.
It stressed that all Sarawakians and Sarawakian PR, work and student visa holders who had been to South Korea and China (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) in the last 14 days must have compulsory home quarantine for 14 days.
“They will be subjected to random monitoring by the relevant authorities.
And that, all visitors from Covid-19 affected countries such as Singapore, Italy, Iran, Japanase are strongly advised to adhere to precautionary guidelines issued by the Sarawak Health Department,” it said.
