THUMBS-UP... The food aid from Hazland is being distributed.

KUCHING: Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni yesterday assured that no household would miss out on the state food aid.

In the first phase, the recipients are heads of households listed under the eKasih system, which is Malaysia’s national poverty database system developed by the government in 2008 to centralise data on impoverished households and the vulnerable at the bottom income percentile.

“People in this category are the worst hit by the movement control order (MCO) made necessary to minimise the spread of Covid-19.

“Thus, the food aid would ease their burden throughout the MCO period,” he said in a statement recently.

He added that after the end of the first phase of food supply delivery, the second phase will be for those listed as aid recipients under State Welfare Department (JKM), B40 group, etc.

In the same development, Hazland presented assistance in the form of essential food items to about 100 people listed under eKasih from Kampung Tabuan Melayu, Kampung Selipar Putus Cemerlang (SPC), Kampung Tabuan Hilir, Kampung Tabuan Lamak, Kampung Tabuan Tengah and Kampung Tabuan Dani.
