KUCHING: Sarawak Bumiputera Tennis Association (PTBS) has been urged to promote tennis in schools at Petra Jaya.

Petra Jaya incumbent MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof stated the effort is needed as there are not many tennis players in Sarawak.

“We have a lot of tennis courts here. It is best to not leave them empty. Moreover, there are many schools in the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency. We can start (promoting tennis) from there.

“So far, Sarawak has not produced tennis players who became national champions. I hope that by promoting tennis in the schools in the area, there will be more players taking interest in it and from there, we can produce champions out of them.

“PTBS need to organise programmes for it. Whatever it is, I will be there to assist,” he said after officiating the closing of the Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof Tennis Tournament Cup at PTBS complex on Sunday (Oct 23).
