BAU:The Digital Economy Centre (PEDi) in Kampung Krokong is set to undergo an internet connectivity enhancement to improve residents’ access to superior internet services.

Communications and Digital Minister, Fahmi Fadzil, revealed that the present internet speed at PEDi in the village stands at 20 Mbps.

Consequently, he has called for an upgrade using microwave technology to attain a speed of 100 Mbps in the coming days.

“My hope is that with high-speed internet at PEDi, more residents in the Bau district can utilise this facility. Nearby villages can also make use of PEDi for e-commerce, digitalisation, or other services that they can enjoy with better internet,” he said during a media briefing after officiating at the Hari Bersama Komuniti Pusat Ekonomi Digital (PEDi) at Kampung Krokong on Saturday (Sept 16).

He also said they are in an advanced phase of negotiations with telecommunications firms to address concerns involving towers lacking telecommunication equipment.
