KUCHING: The Women Career Fair programme is able to empower and increase women’s involvement in economic activities and opportunities.
The program is an initiative of the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development through the Women and Family Department as part of the Women’s Day 2023 celebration which will be held on March 18.
Deputy Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Rosey Yunus said the programme helped to disseminate information and opportunities made available to women in particular.
“Through this fair, various agencies are present to provide advisory services and job opportunities to help women.
“So far, six individuals have managed to get a job while 74 others have passed the screening for the second interview.
“This is what we want to see, especially in helping women. The efforts in organising this fair can help to improve the economy of the women,” she told reporters after officiating at the Women Career Fair Sarawak Series 1 held at Cityone Megamall, here today.
Explaining further, Rosey said that there are two groups which can benefit from the job fair which was held over the weekend (March 4 and 5).
“The job fair can benefit those who are involved in entrepreneurship to further expand their business and also those who have not been involved so that they are given the encouragement to explore the field together to further develop the economy of themselves and their families,” she said.
Therefore, Rosey urged all women to come to the exhibition to see the opportunities provided for them.
“Use this opportunity as much as possible to further expand each other’s business opportunities, at the same time networking and broadening relationships through programmes like this,” she said.
