Farm worker charged with causing grievous hurt to policeman

IPOH: A farm worker was charged in the Sessions Court here today on a charge of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a policeman who was on patrol duty last week.

T. Kuna, 34,  pleaded not guilty to the charge before Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad.

He was charged with voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means to Muhammad Dzulfaizi Dzulkafli, 34, by crashing into the policeman with a Proton Iriz car.

The offence was allegedly committed in front of an oil palm plantation at Jalan Chemor, Tanjung Rambutan here at about 8 pm last Feb 4.

The charge, framed under Section 326 of the Penal Code, provides a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a fine or whipping if convicted.

The court set bail at RM5,000 with one surety and fixed March 26 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Nazreen Zabarudin prosecuted, while Kuna was unrepresented. –  BERNAMA
