Firemen from Asajaya station carry out the extinguishing operation after an afternoon blaze destroyed a wooden house.

ASAJAYA: A family of three were left with nothing but clothes on their backs after their wooden house in Kampung Rebak, was engulfed by flames this afternoon (July 23).

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the occupants, aged between 43 and 70, as they managed to get out to safety.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department said firemen from Asajaya station were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at around 2.30 pm.

Upon arrival, they found that the house was beyond saving and the extinguishing deed was quickly performed to ensure that neighbouring houses would not be affected.

The team also conducted overhaul works to ensure that there are no embers left at the scene.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operation and departed back to their station.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is yet to be ascertained.
