SIBU: A family of five was left homeless when a government quarters at Jalan Circular here was destroyed in a fire last night.
According to Sibu Fire and Rescue Department chief, Janggan Muling today, a fire and rescue team from Sibu Sentral and Sungai Merah stations were rushed to the scene upon receiving a call at 8.56pm.
The fire involved a semi-permanent government quarters. At the time of the incident, the family members were not at home and the premises which was completely razed. A car and a motorcycle parked near the premises were also damaged.
