Fire razes car parked on roadside


KUCHING: A car parked at Jalan Batu Kawa here was severely damaged in a fire on Friday night.

The State Fire Department operations centre said no human casualty or injury were reported in the incident.

“A team of firefighters from Batu Lintang were deployed to the scene after receiving a call from Malaysia Emergency Response Services (MERS) 999 around 7.27pm.

“Upon arriving, the team found that Proton Satria was up in flames and proceeded to extinguish it. The flames were put out around 7.50pm,” said a spokesperson from the centre.

It is not known what causes the blaze as the car appeared to have been left by the roadside.
