BAU: Police detained 11 Indonesian illegal immigrants including five children during an integrated crime prevention operation held here last Saturday (Jan 23).

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the operation involving 37 personnel from various branches was held at several locations in the district.

Poge said those arrested comprised four men, two women, three girls and two boys — all without any valid travel documents.

“All of them have been deported to their country of origin,” he said.

During the operation, police also arrested three locals on suspicion of substance abuse. They are being detained under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“Four summonses have been issued to road users for committing various traffic offences in the district,” he said.

Poge pointed out that the operation was aimed at crime prevention as well as to detect and prevent the entry of illegal immigrants into the state.
