Five students detained for bullying dorm-mate

MUKAH: Five Form 5 students from a secondary school here were detained to assist in the investigation of a bullying case involving a Form 3 student from the same school.

Mukah OCPD DSP Muhammad Rizal Alias stated that all five 17-year-old male teenagers were remanded for four days from Thursday (Mar 28) to complete the investigation.

“Further investigation is being conducted, and the case is being investigated under Sections 506, 377CA, and 323 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement yesterday (Mar 29).

According to Rizal, the Mukah District Police Headquarters received a report regarding the bullying case last Wednesday, which occurred in the dormitory of one of the secondary schools in this area.

The first incident occurred in the boys’ dormitory last Monday at around 9.30pm when the victim was assaulted on the chest and back by several senior students.

He said the suspects accused the victim of losing their pants which were being washed by the victim.

“The second incident occurred last Tuesday around 9.30pm at the same location, once again the victim was physically assaulted on the chest, abdomen, and genitals.

“The victim was sent to Bintulu Hospital for examination and further treatment,” he said.

In this regard, he advised the public not to make any speculation regarding this case that could cause public concern.

The police will take firm action based on legal provisions against those involved in this bullying case, he stressed.
