SIBU: Several low-lying areas were inundated with water following a heavy downpour this afternoon.
Among the areas affected were Jalan Pahlawan, Jalan Keranji and several lanes of Jalan Brother Albinus.
Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Chairman Clarence Ting in his Facebook post yesterday (Jan 11) said the situation was being monitored.
“I am moving around the area to check on the situation of flash floods,” he said.
Meanwhile, New Sarawak Tribune observed several cars breaking down due to the flood.
To circumvent the flood, several cars resorted to taking shortcuts, leading to congestion on main roads such as Brooke Drive and Merdeka junction.
At press time, the town were still experiencing heavy downpour.
