KUCHING: Flood barriers will be installed at certain locations of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here to prevent the area from being hit by flood, says Deputy Minister of Health Lukanisman Awang Sauni.

He disclosed this following a visit to the affected area that was hit by flood on March 18 namely, the hospital’s pharmacy, medical record unit, pediatrics dental clinic, and Lobby B area.

“The cost for the installation of the flood barriers would be about RM300,000 and the matter will be brought up to the Ministry of Health (MOH) for consideration of the funding,” he said in a press conference after making an official work visit to SGH today.

He added that there would be a proposal to put pallets in the medicine stores to keep the medicines on higher ground.

“I would propose this matter to the MOH, so they will take quick action about this,” he said.

Earlier Lukanisman’s visit to the hospital was to look at its operation as well as the infrastructure and facilities needed by the hospital.
