KUCHING: The Kuching Padawan Foochow Association has celebrated its 10th anniversary with a grand event, reflecting on a decade of progress and dedication.

World Federation of Foochow Association Honorary Life president Tan Sri Datuk Tiong Su Kuok stated that association witnessed steady growth and remarkable achievements since its establishment in 2013.

“The association’s current scale and achievements were not achieved overnight. It was built step by step and even with the sweat of our members, which is a testament of our resilience and commitment.

“Therefore, we must not forget the contributions of the association’s past leaders. Only with dedication and gratitude can we continue to strive for a better and brighter future,” he said.

He made these remarks during the association’s 10th anniversary Thanksgiving Dinner at SJK Chung Hua No. 3 here on Friday night.

Meanwhile, the association’s current president, Kapitan Datuk Lau Sei Lok has called on its members to adopt a more modern leadership style.

“In this era of information explosion, we recognise that our leadership style must evolve to stay relevant and not be left behind by the times.

“However, this transformation should align with the original purpose of the association established by our predecessors, ensuring that the significance of association is not lost,” he added.

The event drew some 1,000 members from Foochow associations in and around the country.

Also present was the association’s founding president Datuk Seri Lau Wei Kiong.
