SIBU: Taman Selera Muhibbah is now cleaner and more appealing now that its upgrading has been completed.
Sibu Municipal Council’s Standing Committee chairman for Market and Petty Trader, Albert Tiang said the food court at Jalan Pedada is also OKU (persons with disability) and mother-friendly.

“It is equipped with facilities for people with disabilities such as parking space for their vehicle and there is also a special room for mothers to change the diapers of their babies,” he said when contacted Monday (Feb 13).
Tiang said the two-decade-old food court is tentatively scheduled for opening on March 2, however, if the traders are not ready, a new date will be set for the soft opening.

“The soft opening date is subject to whether the traders are ready. Ready in the sense that they have done minor renovation, their food and drink menus are there, and their signboard has been put up.

“It is not our intention to open it if people go there and things are not ready. It means that by March 2, if the majority of the hawkers are not ready, we will further postpone the opening.

“We have 40 lots that will be opened during the soft opening but we must have at least over 30 stalls ready. You cannot have 20 stalls ready and another 20 not ready,” he said.

The upgrading of the food court saw an addition of 10 lots for which applications will be opened to the public soon.
