BINTULU: Narcotics police on arrested a foreign man for allegedly possessing 6 grams of suspected syabu with the intent to distribute on Wednesday (Apr 23).

Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali in a statement, said that the 32-year-old suspect was picked up at Bintulu night market area.

“During the arrest, the police seized six straw tubes containing suspected syabu weighing 6 grams.

“Preliminary investigations found that the seized drugs were intended to cater to about 20 users at entertainment centres around Kemena area,” he said.

The suspect, who tested positive for methamphetamine, is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In addition, he will be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/53 for lacking valid travel document.

Nixon stated that this arrest was part of continuous efforts to combat drug abuse and prevent criminal activities in Bintulu.
