MUKAH: Thirty-one former community leaders were honoured with certificates and souvenirs at ‘Majlis Penghargaan dan Jasamu Dikenang’ 2019 held at a leading hotel here yesterday.

The certificates and souvenirs were presented in recognition and appreciation for their contribution and dedication to their respective roles as grassroots leaders in the public sector.

Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib Alsree presented them to the recipients who comprised Temenggong, Penghulu, Ketua Kampung, Tuai Rumah and Kapitan.

Former Mukah Division Temenggong Ali Suhaili, who is also ex-Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) walikota, headed the list of 31 recepients.

Hanifah later thanked the community leaders for their contributions in serving the local communities while assisting the government in implementing certain policies and development programmes.

She hoped that they could continue to serve the communities and assist the government in other possible ways.

Meanwhile, Mukah Division Temenggong cum organising chairman Hendi Suhai, in his welcoming address, also thanked the community leaders for the support and cooperation rendered to him while they were in office. He hoped that they would always remain active in other capacities.

Also present were Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi, Mukah Division Resident Hamdiah Bakir, district officer Shafrie Saili and Pemanca Mohamad Jali Kawi.
