MIRI: Four individuals pledged to become organ donors during the 13th Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Miri Branch Malaysia Day blood donation and organ pledging campaign held on Sunday (Sept 17).

This campaign was a collaborative effort between Miri MRCS and 11 other organisations here, including Persatuan Pelayaran Negeri Sarawak, Miri Punjabi Association, Jemaah Nazir Cawangan Miri, Persatuan Wanita Petroleum Miri, Neighbourhood Watch Desa Viana, Rakan Pembimbing Perkhidmatan Awam Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Miri, Moving Communities Team, Miri Indian Association, Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia Cawangan Sarawak Daerah Lambir, Miri City Caring Society, and Miri Piasau Community Welfare Association.

During the campaign, a total of 135 out of 178 participants successfully donated blood, with 21 of them being first-timers.

The event took place at the Miri MRCS Training Institute, located along Jalan Bulan Sabit.

Cr Karambir Singh, chairman of the Miri MRCS Blood Donor Recruitment Committee, expressed his gratitude to all donors and partner organisations for their support.

“Blood donation is a safe and simple procedure that can save lives. By donating blood, you can help patients who need transfusions to survive. I urge everyone to consider donating blood regularly.”

Additionally, organ donation was highlighted as a life-saving act. Many Malaysians wait for organ transplants each year, and pledging one’s organs can provide the gift of life to someone in need.
