KUCHING: Four individuals including a Sarawakian have become millionaires, winning a combined RM51 million from Sports Toto jackpots.
The biggest win of RM33.5 million from the Supreme Toto 6/58 Jackpot was clinched by a Selangor resident on 8 October 2023.
The 53-year-old businessman, who isn’t a regular player, bought RM200 worth of tickets on a whim after dining at a nearby restaurant.
“I decided to try my luck just before closing time at 7 pm. I spent the whole night checking each ticket against the winning numbers. It was unexpected and exciting,” he said.
His winning ticket had the numbers 3, 8, 20, 38, 50, and 56. He plans to invest in his business and treat his wife to a special holiday with his winnings of RM33,533,634.10.
On October 4, a 51-year-old driving instructor from Sabah won the second biggest amount, RM7.5 million, from the Toto 4D Jackpot 1.
“I dreamt of my son calling from our old house number ending in 0814. The next morning, I saw 0708 on my clock, so I bet on these numbers,” he explained. With his prize of RM7,486,650.65 and an extra RM1,008, he aims to support his children’s education and help his family.
Two more jackpot winners came from Sabah and Sarawak. On September 24, a 41-year-old accountant from Sabah won RM5.6 million from the Star Toto 6/50 Jackpot 1 with the numbers 9, 11, 22, 28, 32, & 39.
Meanwhile, a 71-year-old housewife from Sarawak won RM5.3 million from the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 on September 17. She bought her winning ticket, with numbers “0708 & 2907”, while out shopping, earning her RM5,321,823.30 and an additional RM336 bonus.
