KUCHING: The Sarawak Government remains steadfast in its commitment to boost household income through strategic human capital development initiatives.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap reiterated this initiative, citing Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s recent announcement of free tertiary education for Sarawakians in state-owned universities and higher education institutions by 2025.

“To increase the household income, the way forward to achieve this is through human capital development for a highly educated and skilled labour force which in turn will ensure higher paying jobs,” he said.

He said this during the Farewell 2023 and Welcome 2024 dinner organised by the Federation Of Chinese Association, Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions Youth Section here last night.

Yap also noted that youths play an important role in the development of a country and society.

“Young people are the greatest agents of change in a society. Youths are the future of Sarawak and that is why the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is focussing on youth development,” he said.
