Friends fined RM2,000 for theft

KUCHING: Two friends were on Thursday (Jan 27) fined RM2,000 each in default five months’ imprisonment for stealing 18 pieces of metal gate scraps from an apartment area on Jan 21.

Abdul Hafiz Jimi, 38, and Nizam Rahmat, 27, pleaded guilty to the charge before magistrate Zaiton Anuar.

They were charged with committing the offence at Kuarters Gunasama Perseketuan here at 10.42 am on Jan 21.

The cost of the stolen items were estimated at RM300.
