KUALA LUMPUR: Police have exposed drug abuse among patrons of an entertainment centre in Sun Complex, Bukit Bintang here, and arrested 37 individuals, two of whom were Singaporeans, early this morning.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said they were detained in a raid conducted by a team from Kuala Lumpur police CID and Narcotics CID at about 2.45 am.

He said in the operation, 81 individuals aged between 20 and 40, were tested for drugs of whom 28 men and nine women were tested positive.

Police used sniffer dogs from its K9 Unit to sniff out several bottles of drink laced with drugs at the entertainment centre, he told reporters.

Mazlan said the entertainment centre owner also employed foreign guest relations officers (GROs) to attract more guests.

He said the police also arrested 15 GROs comprising 10 Chinese and five Vietnamese nationals.

“Drinks laced with drugs were also found in a room occupied by four men, two of whom were Singaporeans together with four GROs from China,” he said.

He said they were taken to Kuala Lumpur police headquarters for further action. – Bernama
