Furious at new car constantly breaking down, man slaps salesperson

KUCHING: The Magistrates’ Court here fined a 36-year-old man RM1,200, in default one month’s jail, after he pleaded guilty to slapping a luxury car dealership sales head.

Tan Hern Hua entered the plea on yesterday (Oct 25) to a charge framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code before magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.

Section 323 provides for a jail term of up to one year or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both, if convicted.

The accused was charged for intentionally injuring the 41-year-old female victim by slapping her on the left cheek on Oct 15.

The offence was committed at the premises of the luxury car dealership in Jalan Tun Jugah here around 1.15pm.

According to the facts of the case, the accused went to the customer service counter and scolded the victim for not answering his calls regarding his vehicle.

He was dissatisfied that his new car broke down constantly despite having sent for repairs several times.

Furious at not being attended to, the accused hit the table and slapped the victim’s left cheek. The accused also pushed the victim’s head twice using his index finger.

As a result, the victim suffered a swollen left cheek.

Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted the case while the accused was unrepresented.
