KUCHING: Galleria, an established art gallery at Wesberly House, Rubber Road West here, has donated an undisclosed amount of money to Sarawak Hospice Society.
During the Cultural Splendour exhibition early in the year, the art gallery raised some funds for the society.
Evelyn Willom of Galleria recently presented a cheque to Thomas Sim, secretary of Sarawak Hospice Society.
Galleria’s donation is to help the society provide palliative care.
Galleria represents and supports local and international artists who are either emerging or renowned.
“We present our small yearly contributions to selected charitable organisations through the promotion of art and culture,” explained a spokesperson of the art gallery.
Sarawak Hospice Society, registered in January 1990, aims to promote hospice services and makes provision for hospice care with the Home Care Programme.
The hospice care is available for terminally ill cancer patients in Sarawak.
The society provides physical and emotional care at home to family and friends and professional medical supervision to manage pain and other symptoms.
Meanwhile, Galleria is currently exhibiting sketches of Sarawak Tourist Destinations by Gabrielle Lim, Sylvester Jussem, Mohd. Ali Zolkifli, Melton Kais and Azy Yanti Morni. All paintings are available for sale.
The exhibition opens from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and from 9.00am to noon on Saturday. For more information, call 016 – 886 5278.
