MIRI: A team from the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, State Development Miri Office paid a visit to 10 houses, giving household items to the less fortunate.

The team, led by its assistant director Rozila Rebi, kick-started the Ramadan cheer programme named “Kasih Ramadan” with a visit to a house at Kampung Lembah Hijau and ended at a house at Kampung Wireless here.

“For Sarawak, RM12,000 has been allocated for the programme, and to be channelled to a total of 60 households with hardcore poor status and registered under e-Kasih,” said Rozila.

The programme was a collaboration with Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad. Most of the recipients expressed their joy with the goodies and gifts.

“This has helped us a lot,” said housewife and mother of four, Mazuana Mohd Abu Bakar, 32, from Kampung Lembah Hijau.

She hoped that this programme would be organised again in future as it helped the less fortunate groups, especially during Ramadan and the ucoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
