KUCHING: Better infrastructures and facilities for health institutions will be able to provide the best healthcare services to the community, thus ensuring that health services are easily accessible.

Kuching Divisional Health Officer Dr Raziah Mohamad said the State Health Department through the Divisional Health Office will always strive to provide better healthcare services to the people.

This can be implemented with advanced health infrastructures and one which is located close to the area where the communities are living.

“With facilities like this, we hope that the people around do not have to bother going to places far from where they live to seek treatment.

“Minor accidents that require treatment such as stitches on a wound, fever, flu or stomach ache can be treated immediately in the clinics or other health institutions located near residential areas,” she said.

Dr Raziah was speaking at the opening of the new Pantai Damai Health Clinic in Bandar Baru Samariang today (Jan 11).

She said the Health Department always works hard to improve service quality through monitoring achievements and local demand.

She hoped that more health clinics can be upgraded like the Pantai Damai Health Clinic.

Previously, the Pantai Damai Health Clinic used the 1Malaysia Clinic that has been upgraded to a health clinic.

“Klinik 1 Malaysia Pantai Damai started operating on Sept 1, 2012 and only provided outpatient services.

“Due to the increasing number of daily patients, the clinic has expanded its services by adding maternal and child health services.

“On June 16, 2021, Klinik 1 Malaysia Pantai Damai was officially upgraded to Pantai Damai Health Clinic,” Dr Raziah said.

So far a total of 25,665 patients have been recorded in 2021 and average daily visits of 104 people at the health clinic.

The new health clinic building became operational on Jan 2. It comprises four medical officers and a pharmacist together with 17 other medical staff.
