KUCHING: Political observer Datuk Peter Minos believes that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will support any political efforts aimed at promoting unity and solidarity in Sarawak.

According to Minos, the recent decision made by the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) is beneficial for the people and the future of the state.

Minos said that if PSB eventually joins GPS either independently or in collaboration with PDP, it would not pose a problem, in his opinion.

However, the final decision rests with GPS and particularly with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who serves as the chairman of the coalition.

Speaking to New Sarawak Tribune today (July 14), Minos acknowledged that it is too early to determine the outcome of the engagement between PDP and PSB. He hoped that it would be a successful partnership.

Minos highlighted that GPS is already a united and strong coalition, and the support from PSB would further fortify the political landscape in the state.

He contrasted the situation in Sarawak with the ongoing conflicts in Peninsular Malaysia whereby political disunity and division there cause concerns and hinder economic recovery and progress.
