KUCHING: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)’s victory in Sabah gives new impetus to Perikatan Nasional (PN) at the federal-level.
Political analyst Prof Madya Dr Saudi Narani said GRS’ win also gives a good boost for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in Sarawak.
“Now is high time for the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) to be dissolved and to give way for the state election.
“We can expect it at any time,” said Saudi who is also a senior lecturer with the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak.
He added that the support for GRS in Sabah through PN, Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) shows that the people are supporting the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said this in a statement issued Sunday (Sept 27).
Earlier, the Election Commission (EC) announced that the GRS coalition has obtained the majority to form the new state government.
Out of 73 seats in Sabah, GRS secured 38 seats with PN (17), BN (14), and PBS (seven).
