SIBU: Police here have arrested two suspects after the discovery of a woman’s body inside a black suitcase at the roadside of Jalan Aman here at 6.45am today.

Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the suspects were picked up from a house at Jalan Tong Sang here at around 3.45pm today.

He said the dead woman was identified as Heng Meow Lin, 37, believed to be from Perak.

On the facts of the case, according to sources at the scene, some members of the public saw a suspicious large black suitcase under a tree by the side of the road.

When they opened the luggage, they were shocked to find the whole body of a woman inside. It was clad in a grey round neck T-shirt and polka dot long pants.

They immediately alerted the police and a police team was despatched to the scene.

The body was sent to Sibu Hospital for a post mortem.

Stanley, when contacted immediately after the discovery, said the body was found stuffed inside the suitcase.

“We suspect that the woman might have died somewhere else and the body was dumped at the roadside of Jalan Aman here.

“There are no injuries on the body. There is also no sign of struggle or weapon found at the scene,” he said.

The case is classified as murder pending a postmortem because the police do not know how she died.

Two handwritten notes in Mandarin were found near the body and one of them had a MyKad number.

Police would trace the dead woman’s family members from the notes and information gathered at the scene, added Stanley.
