HONG KONG: Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced that the morning trading session of its securities and derivatives markets Monday has been delayed due to the issuance of Typhoon Signal No. 8 and Black Rainstorm Warning, reported Xinhua.

If Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, Black Rainstorm Warning, or any announcement of Extreme Conditions, remains issued at noon, all trading sessions on Monday will be cancelled, HKEX said in a statement.

Stock Connect Northbound trading has also been affected.

The Hong Kong Observatory issued the No. 8 Northeast Gale or Storm Signal on Sunday afternoon under the effect of Typhoon Koinu.

The No. 8 signal is the third-highest warning under Hong Kong’s weather system, which has five rankings for typhoons. Winds with mean speeds of 63 km per hour or more are expected from the northeast quarter. – BERNAMA-XINHUA
