KUCHING: A woman is now under observation in a private hospital for concussion after she was smashed on her head in a snatch theft incident.

She lay unconscious on the road after the assault and was saved by three passers-by who rushed her to a private hospital.

She only regained consciousness after being treated.

The victim’s father Lee Tong Kwang said his daughter, who is in her 40s, was walking back from the community hall in Hui Sing Garden to his shop nearby when she was attacked in the car park at about 4.30pm on Tuesday.

Lee pointing to the spot where his daughter was attacked by snatch thieves.

Lee, who is the Hui Sing Community Committee president, said his daughter told him at the hospital that she put up a fight with two snatch thieves, who tried to grab her handbag.

She said she knew she was about to be hit on her head but could not remember what weapon they used. The snatch thieves left without taking her handbag.

She woke up in the hospital and her family only knew of the incident after they were informed by the hospital. By then, the three persons who saved her had left.

This is the second time a member of the family has fallen victim to snatch thieves in Hui Sing Garden. Lee said his sister was also attacked around the area a couple of years back.

Lee hoped that the authorities concerned would put up extra lighting at the back of the shophouses in Hui Sing.

He said many people who went for zumba and tai chi exercises at the community hall were scared when going to the car park to collect their vehicles.

He would also like to contact the three persons to personally thank them for helping his daughter.

They can contact him at 014-2167960. He also thanked the police for their assistance in trying to solve the crime.

Police were at the scene yesterday morning and interviewed the victim who was still groggy.
