KUCHING: The body parts found in the stomach of14-foot crocodile culled during an operation at Sungai Stubah on two days ago have been sent for forensic DNA analysis.

Sarawak Forestry Corporation’s (SFC) chief executive officer Zolkipli Mohamad Aton said the reptile was captured on Sunday afternoon after a foreigner, believed to have been attacked by the reptile, went missing since March 9 at an oil palm plantation in Bintangor.

A Swift Wildlife Action Team (SWAT) from SFC was despatched to the location to hunt down the crocodile that attacked and killed Indonesian Yosep Tefa.

“Some body parts were found inside the crocodile’s abdomen and they were sent to the police for forensic DNA analysis,” said Zolkipli in a statement.

Zolkipli thankedthe Maradong police station, Tanjung Manis Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysian Civil Defence Force, plantation and the local community for their assistance in the operation.

SFC also reminded the public to notify the nearest SFC or Sarawak Forest Department offices of any crocodile sightings in their areas and not to take matters into their own hands as the reptiles are dangerous.
