Ibraco signs up to build new FAME campus

KUCHING: Property developer, Ibraco Berhad and FAME International College have sealed an educational partnership for the construction of a state-of-the-art new college campus.

Strategically located in Tabuan Tranquility, the forthcoming FAME International College campus is expected to be completed and operational in 2026.

The seven-storey building with a total of 60,000 square feet of space, is set to accommodate a population of 1,500.

Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government II (Public Health and Housing) Datuk Michael Tiang said the collaboration between the two parties is in line with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s aim to focus on the development of a well-trained and knowledgeable human capital with a world class education system for Sarawak to achieve a high income and developed state status by 2030.

“The collaboration is very synergetic and will definitely bring a lot of impacts not only to education but the local economy, and by bringing more people from outside to come to Kuching to invest,” he said during the signing ceremony at Ibraco Sales Gallery, The NorthBank, Kota Saramahan on Tuesday (Feb 6).

Therefore, he said, Ibraco Berhad and FAME International College have a big mission to accomplish by creating a world class education system to generate a new generation of human capital to help propel the state towards this goal.

“Thank you to FAME International College and Ibraco Berhad for coming together to write another very exciting chapter in Sarawak’s story,” he said.

Meanwhile, FAME International College chairman Ikhwan Zaidel said the collaboration is a momentous occasion for the institution to play its part to contribute towards the state government’s aim of making Sarawak an advanced digital economy and society.

“We are confident this project will play a pivotal role in shaping the leaders and innovators of tomorrow,” he said.

The new FAME International College Campus will have a facility that encompasses a lecture theatre, classrooms, tutorial rooms, skills training rooms, academic rooms, a 5,000 square feet student lounge, multimedia lab and a library.

Additionally, it will feature a rooftop multi-functional court suitable for sports and recreational activities.

Earlier, the partnership agreement was signed by Ibraco Berhad’s chief financial officer Lily Tang and FAME International College was represented by its managing director Eddie Wee.
