SIBU: The 10th General Operation Force seized contraband cigarettes and alcoholic drinks worth RM384,236 in two separate operations on Thursday (Apr 13).
Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the raids codenamed Ops Taring Alpha were conducted at two places.
“In the first raid on a retail store in Jalan Aman at 1.30 pm, they confiscated an assortment of cigarettes worth RM28,320,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Meanwhile, in an operation at 5.30 pm at Jalan Nibong, the team netted RM359,916 worth of cigarettes and alcoholic drinks.
“All items seized had evaded custom taxes,” he said.
The case is investigated under Section 135 (1) (d) of the Custom Act 1969.
