KUCHING: Political secretary to the chief minister Tan Kai has appealed to Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof to improve the quality of the Jalan Tun Razak-Jalan Foochow traffic light junction project left over by the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government.

He said he had met with Fadillah last Saturday and has appealed to the minster if his ministry could do anything to improve the condition of the junction.

Tan Kai (left) met with Fadillah on the quality of the Jalan Tun Razak-Jalan Foochow traffic light junction project.

Tan Kai said according to information gathered from Public Works Department (JKR), the project is considered complete.

“However, there were numerous complaints received from the public about the uneven road surface at the junction.

“Some even told me that it is like experiencing a rugged mountain road when passing through that traffic light junction,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

He said concrete pavement was used instead of conventional premix pavement and upgrading works was completed at the end of 2019.

“The uneven surface not only causes inconvenience to road users, but will also give a detrimental image to Kuching city as the junction is one of the transportation hubs within the city,” he said.
