KUCHING: An Ironman mascot greeted parents and children at Sekolah Kebangsaan Petra Jaya when they turned up to begin their new academic year on Monday.

The mascot, which joined teachers in welcoming them, was arranged for by the school to create a sense of excitement among the new as well as returning students.

And the idea worked.

New Sarawak Tribune spoke to some parents and students from SK Petra Jaya to gather their thoughts and feelings about the first day of school.

One of my children is entering Primary One today, and as a mother I am excited for him to start learning and making new friends. I also hope that my children get to learn as much as possible to the best of their ability.
