VETERAN actor and TV host Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan, who was warded at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Cheras due to a urinary tract infection, regretted his decision to make light of an infection.

Earlier, his son Zul Qayyum recently announced on TikTok that his father was hospitalised but that his condition was stable.

“My father was not feeling well to the point that he was hospitalised. Let’s all pray for his speedy recovery,” said Zul Qayyum.

Jalaluddin said that he had been holding in his pain since the week before, and he was warded at the hospital on Wednesday when he could no longer bear the pain.

“I was only receiving treatment from my nephew, who is a doctor. At first, it felt as if I had recovered. I felt no pain during urination and decided to continue with my work on ‘Mega Spontan’ (a television programme).

The 69-year-old also expressed regret for making light of his infection to the point it became serious.

“It was my own mistake for not taking this infection seriously. My nephew also advised me to seek treatment at the hospital but I told him I had plenty of work to finish. Little did I know this infection required treatment in a hospital,” he said.

Jalaluddin is the son of the late religious scholar Tan Sri Hassan Azhari and the younger brother of former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan and former Selangor State Executive Councillor, the late Datuk Fuad Hassan.
