MIRI: A football clinic with former Sarawak player, the legendary Jalil Ramli as the facilitator on Saturday, has received an overwhelming response from schools within Niah and surrounding areas.
Held at SK Kita, Niah, the programme was part of Sarawak Football Club’s grassroots development initiative to give early exposure to primary school pupils.
According to the spokesperson, such events need to be extended not only to school children but to school teachers and local communities.
This time around, the phase 2 clinic saw more participation than the first phase held in SK Selanyau.
Jointly organised by the Subis district headmaster council and the Miri Division Football Association, the clinic was officiated by Member of Parliament for Sibuti, Lukanisman Awang Sauni.
Lukanisman hope that the programme would be expanded to several locations next year.
“For example, perhaps next year, a similar programme can be held in Lambir constituency,” he said.
Lukanisman expressed his full support for the programme and is looking forward to get the football development programme paperwork for the Sibuti division.
