SARIKEI: The Special Affairs Department (Jasa) donated cash and food items to the fire victims of Rumah Saba Aling last Wednesday.
Sarikei division Jasa officer, Ahmad Adai presented the donation to Tuai Rumah Saba who received on behalf of the fire victims.
In the fiery incident on 9 April, more than 90 residents of the longhouse were made homeless. The incident also claimed the life of a 62-year-old man, Lowest Selin.
Ahmad when met said he hoped the contribution could help ease the victims’ burden.
“We feel sad for the victims and decided to contribute some cash and food items to them. Although the amount is small, I hope it will help ease their burdens,” he said.
