KUCHING: John Nyigor was sworn in as a political secretary to the chief minister before Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Monday (Sept 21).
In gratitude, John conveyed his appreciation to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari for having given him the appointment.
“It is a big task for me and I am very grateful to Abang Johari for having considered and appointing me to be one of his political secretaries,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted today (Sept 21).
He expected the post to be challenging one, but he will do his very best to carry out his duties.
“I know it will not be easy especially at this point of time when we are facing a lot of pressure from opposition parties and also due to lies being spread on social media,” he said.
Appointed to serve for two years until 2022, John is a certified financial planner (CFP) and is currently a chartered secretary practitioner.
He has also held several positions in Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and PBB Youth Wing.
Besides that, he is involved in non-governmental organisations (NGO) such as Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS), Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA), Malaysian Ex-Military Association, and Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administration (MAICSA).
John has been awarded the Johan Setia Mahkota, Kesatria Mangku Negara, Pegawai Bintang Sarawak and Bentara Bintang Sarawak by the federal and state governments.
