Join forces to grow stronger, says Kapitan

KUCHING: President of Simpang Tiga Area Community Association and Padawan Foochow Association, Kapitan Dato’ Lau Sei Lok called to members of both associations to work together in unity so that they could grow stronger.

Speaking at the annual Chinese New Year Dinner on Wednesday night, Lau said the Simpang Tiga community Area Association was set up to take care of the people in the area in terms of welfare and other while the Padawan Foochow Association was set up to unite the Foochow clan.

He said this is the first time both associations had held the annual Chinese New Year Dinner together. He said there are many associations in Sarawak and it is important that the two associations join forces or it will become irrelevant like many other associations out there.

During the dinner, the guests enjoyed a variety of food, a lion dance performance and also a brief karaoke session.

Lau also received his title of Kapitan from Temenggong Tan Joo Phoi. Also at the dinner was founding President, Dato’ Sri Lau Wee Kiong and Penghulu Tan Kee Heng and the association committee members.
