KUCHING: Local entrepreneurs who create Sarawak heritage products are encouraged to register as merchants on the newly-launched Centexs Commercial Services Sdn Bhd (CCS) website saratage.com.

The website was officially launched by the Chief Minister’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang at the opening of the Heritage Central Cafe and Gallery next to Padang Merdeka here, Thursday.

Sarawak heritage products showcased on this online platform include keringkam, songket, beads and woven products.

“Saratage is a digital online platform created to promote Sarawak heritage products and to help local entrepreneurs find market in Malaya and overseas,” said CCS Mohamad Shahren Mohamad Yusri when met at the launch.

“Next year, we will be creating an app and a complete digital platform. Today we have launched a teaser to inform the public to register as merchants,” he said, adding that the complete platform is expected to be fully functional early next year.

Mohamad Shahren emphasised that CCS would first check the products in terms of quality and also to ensure that they are really heritage products.

“If they are not up to standard, we cannot provide them this opportunity,” he stressed.

He said they also have the Heritage Central Gallery as an offline platform to showcase the heritage goods made by local entrepreneurs.

“We also repackage their products so that they have a class of their own,” he stated.

The online platform is powered and designed by Socoe Sdn Bhd, a Sarawak-based technology company.
