Kapit CCC meets SEB for dialogue

KAPIT : Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce (Kapit CCC) recently attended a briefing and dialogue session at SEB Kuching headquarters in Kuching.   It brought up five main points to the attention of the government and SEB in particular.

The five main points included a proposal to set up Yayasan Baleh to promote quality education for students at Bukit Mabong, Kapit and Song District.

Kapit CCC suggested that employees  of the Baleh Dam project open their bank accounts  in Kapit to receive their salaries.

It also suggested the setting up of a Baleh Dam Community leaders’ Supervisory Committee to boost local participation in the supplies of food, rations and raw materials.

Kapit CCC also proposed that the power supply to Kapit be  further stabilised.

“The briefing and dialogue session with the staff of SEB (Sarawak Electricity Berhad) Kuching was held at the  SEB headquarters. Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce committee members came all the way to Kuching because we are concerned about the mega project to construct the Baleh Dam.

“As the governing body for the business communities in Kapit, we don’t want to be sidelined.

“As far as possible, we also wanted to have a part of the lion share of the RM10 billion project,”  the chairman of Kapit CCC, Ling Hung Ping told the press.

The   Kapit CCC delegation included its chairman, Ling Hung Ping, secretary, Lin Kong Sie, assistant secretary, Ting King Yiing, treasurer, Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo, general affairs officer, Ting Hwa Kiong and contractor, Ling Chok King.

Present were community leaders led by Temenggong Tan Kian Hoo, Pemanca Yong Thu Fook, Penghulu Sia Shui Poh, Penghulu Wong Kie Ing, Kapitan Kong Cheak He and Kapitan Yap Hui Li.
