KUCHING: Tourism should benefit the most from Budget 2024 given that the industry is one of the prime drivers of economic growth in the country.

Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah is hoping this will materialise as it is a crucial industry.

“For instance, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and other members of the state government have seen the importance of the tourism industry.

“There will always be allocations for that, and it is given to us to organise various programmes and events all year long, because they have seen how beneficial it can be for the state’s economy,” he said.

He made these remarks at a press conference on the upcoming Sarawak Regatta in conjunction with the Kuching Waterfront Festival 2023 here Tuesday (Oct 3).

Abdul Karim also hoped the people working in the hotel and tourism industry would benefit from Budget 2024.

“The people working in hotels, homestay, transportation, and those who are selling craft products should get the most benefit out of this budget,” he added.
