LIMBANG: Cleanliness should always be adhered to at Ramadan bazaars to ensure the health of traders and patrons.

Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the Limbang District Council (MDL) and the Limbang Divisional Health Office should therefore conduct inspections on traders in the bazaar from time to time.

He said this was to prevent problems like food poisoning and diarrhoea.

“Therefore, it is important for the Ministry of Health (KKM) to conduct screening on those who do business in the Ramadan bazaar.

“However, such cases rarely happen here, this means we practice a healthy lifestyle,” he said during the opening of the Ramadan Bazaar organised by MDL here on Saturday (March 25).

During the event, there was also a presentation of the ‘Home-Based Food’ Certificate from the Ministry of Health, the presentation of vouchers from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Living Costs, the presentation of donations to asnaf from the Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak and the distribution of ‘bubur lambuk’ from the Sarawak Federation of Women’s Associations (PPWS).
