KUCHING: Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) holders may get to enjoy free bus rides if a discussion on the subject ends on a good note.

Chief Minister Datuk Pattingi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state government is still in discussion.

“For the Kenyalang Gold Card holders who are 60 years and above, aside from receiving special discounts and benefits from selected vendors, they could take the bus managed by the state government for free, that’s depending on the outcome of the discussion now ongoing.

“They could use the card whenever they take the hydrogen or electric bus, which is owned by the state government, free of charge,” he said during launching of the Senior Citizens Activity Centre (Pawe) Sri Satok building at Jalan Kulas yesterday.

He, however, reiterated that the initiative is still being discussed with the Sarawak Ministry of Transport.

He noted that the launch of the KGC has been receiving “very encouraging” response from many quarters, especially supermarkets.
