KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Territory Minister Khalid Abdul Samad yesterday denied Buletin Utama TV3 news that he had withdrawn the proposal for Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (TAR) to be turned into a “Pedestrian Walk” area.
“What I said was that Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) is evaluating the proposal to turn Jalan TAR into a Pedestrian Walk. For the time being, DBKL is studying the option for its implementation and discussing with all the relevant parties especially those who would be directly involved.
“We will announce the form of implementation a week before the actual date stipulated that is on March 15,” he said in a statement last night.
He had requested that TV3 retracted the inaccurate report and make the necessary correction.
Earlier, Khalid was reported to have said that any decision on the closure of part of Jalan TAR to public transport would be finalised before March 15.
The decision would be made based on the feedback from interested parties especially hawkers and petty traders around Jalan Esfahan up to Jalan Melayu. – Bernama
