KUCHING: The Industrial Zone in Kidurong, Bintulu will become a “job pool” for young people in Sarawak, thanks to the establishment of two hydrogen plants scheduled for completion by 2027.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said the establishment of the plants was carried out in collaboration with companies from South Korea and Japan, with each plant requiring 1,000 workers.

“A factory can produce 100,000 tons of hydrogen within a year, thus requiring 1,000 workers. Therefore, about 2,000 new job opportunities will be created by the two factories geared towards technical technology.

“The factory developed in Kidurong, Bintulu will also be a source of employment for the youth of Sarawak,” he stressed.

He said this during the Maal Hijrah Festival 2023 closing ceremony at Masjid Jamek Sarawak here today.

Meanwhile, he commended the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) for organising the Maal Hijrah Festival that has impacted the community positively.

“This is a success that we have seen in relation to mosques and suraus. These places can become centres of community development through organising beneficial and useful activities.

“This shows that unity is the key to all things including progress, prosperity and the standard of living of all of us,” he added.
