MIRI: A six-week-old kitten was rescued from a 10-foot-deep drain at Jalan Miri-Airport on Tuesday night, after a woman heard its cries.

A team of Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) was immediately deployed to the scene after an emergency call from the 28-year-old woman was received around 9.58pm.

“The discovery was made when the woman was walking around the area and suddenly she heard the kitten’s cries,” Miri APM officer in-charge Capt (PA) Usman Harto said.

According to him, the team arrived at the location at about 10.17pm and successfully rescued the kitten in less than 10 minutes.
