KPDN confiscates diesel and containers in Kota Samarahan raid

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN) recently seized a vehicle here with approximately 800 litres of diesel oil and two bulk containers (IBC) with an electric pump, totaling an estimated value of RM12,320.

“On Friday (Mar 29), the ministry received a case transfer from the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters involving the misappropriation of subsidised diesel.

“The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 to identify individuals/companies involved in the distribution chain of diesel oil, including the sources of diesel oil obtained and distributed by any irresponsible party,” it said on its Facebook post.

If convicted, corporate bodies could face fines of up to two million ringgit for the first offence and fines of up to five million ringgit for the second offence.

Individuals, on the other hand, may be subject to fines not exceeding one million ringgit for the initial offence, imprisonment for a maximum of three years, or both.

For subsequent offences, fines for individuals may reach up to three million ringgit, imprisonment for a maximum of five years, or both.
